Advice on buying second-hand spares.
We only use reputable breakers and obtain at least two trade references before adding breakers to our network. However, when ordering parts remember that you deal directly with the breaker, and Part Finder UK LTD accepts no liability for any loss or damage suffered - we take no commission from sales and are not involved in the contract between you and the breaker. |

Useful Tips
Have a pen and paper ready to note the name, address and phone number of the company you order your parts from, as well as the name of the person you deal with.
Always ask the breaker to check the condition of the part and if a warranty is offered. When a price is quoted, check if it includes VAT and delivery.
When buying an engine, check exactly what you are getting for your money as many breakers remove the starter motor, carbs, generator and engine covers – some may even remove the clutch. Fit the engine as soon as possible to check that it is not faulty. Breakers will be very reluctant to give you a refund if you have had the engine for many weeks before fitting it to your bike.
If you are buying plastics make sure that you have checked the colour and condition of the panels carefully with the breaker. If you need an exact colour match be aware that graphics / stickers change with each model, so bikes from the same year can sometimes have subtle differences in their colour scheme.
If you are buying a headlamp or a speedo, check if it is manufactured to UK specification as it may either dip to the wrong side or be in KPH – in both cases this may cause your bike to fail an MOT. |

If Things Go Wrong…
If the wrong parts arrive or they are damaged / unsuitable for your requirements you should contact the breaker immediately. Avoid losing your temper as this usually makes it much harder to resolve a problem – breakers rarely respond to being shouted at! Mistakes are bound to happen from time to time and all our breakers should refund goods that are incorrectly supplied or are unsuitable for their intended purpose.
The best policy to avoid mishaps is to be clear about what you expect when you order your parts – i.e. specify the exact model (e.g. ‘CBR900 RR-S 95’ not just ‘Fireblade M reg’) and be precise about the condition required (e.g. for plastics ‘no cracks and scuffs accepted’ not vague terms like ‘g.c.’)
If you do need to return parts it is always advisable to speak to the breaker first and to use a delivery service that requires a signature on receipt of the goods (e.g. Royal Mail recorded delivery) |
